Event #16 OPEN FOR MUSIC BUSINESS

Alright folks. Part of Miksy's Playground is NOW A SOUND PRODUCTION STUDIO - oh yeah! More fun for Miksy: creating not just random food and crafts but music and sounds too.

So, should your company require a jingle, background music for an add or any media, background music for the phone line as clients hold or any other music services, feel free to contact Miksy's Playground for a quote. Since I am starting out, I can assure you my prices are MUCH lower than any commercialised recording studio, so you know it's a win win for me AND you :)

Factors that influence the price of the music:

- length
- original composition vs arrangement
- technicality and cost of external sources for recordings should that be necessary
- number of times the client wishes the music to be edited

Our full website is giving us some hassles, but it is online! Checkout www.miksysplayground.com.

ANNOUNCEMENT

So everyone,
I have some GOOD NEWS!
Due to some very generous  FAMILY, FRIENDS and ACQUAINTANCES and ALL OF YOUR SUPPORT I have obtained GOAL 1!!!!! A laptop and logic pro so that I can produce music from home!

As a spiritual act of thanks and glorifying Him who made this all possible, I arranged and produced a song adapted from Bethel Live music. If the bottom audio file doesn't work click here.

But the fun at Miksy's Playground doesn't end here... Oh no siree! This is just the beginning... Next up I am saving for a solid and good, large, weighted MIDI keyboard...

AND if you know of anyone that needs media music services, send them my way!

Event #15 CHILI ROSEMARY SALT

The pictures really don't do this justice.

But here is some of my homemade chili rosemary salt, made with freshly picked rosemary and chili from my (organic) garden!

It is delicious with stews, casseroles, even a great seasoning for rice or boiled veggies. Think chili rosemary seasoned boiled potatoes and wilted spinach with blushing roast lamb basted in a garlicy marinade. Or just chili rosemary salt on popcorn!

The salt has a very slight chili bite but I don't think that it's anything to be afraid of. It's just enough to warm up your insides a little bit. Perfect for these cold Cape Town days.

R23 for 100ml of the salt plus the container and delivery to Southern Suburbs!
Orders are taken till stocks last.
Should you be afraid of chili, I have red pepper rosemary salt!

Order at maikegevers at gmail dot com!

Keep warm and sip on ginger tea if you start feeling a fever come along!

Event #14 - PDA to my dear Gareth

So my fiance lovingly proposed, and then disappeared off to visit his family in JHB, travel Europe, party his unmarried ass off at a wedding (one last time before his own, possibly) and visit more family in England, while I am here fighting off questions like:When are you getting married, what are you wearing, what's your colour scheme? FYI I don't know.

Holy moly. He dodged a bullet that one! But, I do love him, so here's to a massive PDA to him!

This poem is rated. Must be over 18 to read. Sorry.

Dear Gareth Watson,
so fair are you:
you excel all requirements
in all that you do!

Dear Gareth Watson,
none can compare!
It's a rude statement that [to the rest of the population], though
to tell the truth is only fair.

Dear Gareth Watson,
my fiance,
Oh how I am looking forward to
our great day!

Dear Gareth Watson,
so bearded! Its true
that I may not recognise your face
when your return is due.

Dear Gareth Watson,
although that may be the case
I know you'll remind me
with your loving embrace.

Dear Gareth Watson,
with that said,
I love you even on the interwebs,
how much more in ...! (I just can't seem to think of the right word here)

Dear Gareth Watson,
that may have been offsides.
Therefore I shall stop rhyming now,
and work on masters revisions.

With that said (the poetry is now over) I have much studious work to do by Wednesday night, so I will be MIA and working hard on that. Crunchie orders are still open, Kimchi is still available and Crocheted goods are still available!

Event #7 DIDGERIDOO

There are two things I want to achieve with event #7:

-sell my lovely didgeridoo (I didn't make it, just so you know)
-hopefully hear from someone with LOTS of bamboo in their garden that I can chop down for them and take home... because I've been wanting to make my own bamboo musical instruments for years now and still haven't found a good source of bamboo. Besides a few variations of the pan pipe I haven't been able to experiment too much. I want to make didges too!

The didge for sale comes with a bag and a 10 minute lesson on how to get started... by ME! I haven't used it much, because I have two, and this one has always just been in my room... jealous of the attention I give didge #1...

R220 for the first order, I only have one!
Delivery included to anywhere between Constantia and Cape Town.
Email me on maikegevers at gmail dot com to confirm your order.
This event lasts until it is sold!

IF you have bamboo in your garden and want to get rid of it, please do let me know. Email me and I can come with a bakkie and get as much as you will allow me to. Also, if you have a lemon tree and many lemons... I want lemons too...

Event #6 HOMEMADE YOGHURT with REAL CULTURES

Yes, REAL cultures. Do you know why people keep saying yoghurt is good for your tummy? Well, like Kimchi, it is rich in probiotics.

How can YOU trust that my little homemade yoghurt has REAL cultures in them? Well, brace yourselves. Here is a picture of my family of friendly bacteria.

They love it here at Miksy's Playground, and I eat fresh yoghurt most mornings thanks to them. I infuse milk with the cultures for 24 hours, then sieve out the cultures to be left with a strong probiotic rich, fermented drink. This can be consumed raw or can be used to make a variety of fermented dairy products like yoghurt and cheese. This yoghurt is also a great buttermilk substitute for baking, a trick I learnt from my mommy.

My mom got these little cultures many years ago from her friend, my godmother, who lives on a dairy farm. Farmer woman are cool. Who needs shops when you live on a farm? Put me there with an in-tune grand piano, a sound production studio and an Internet connection and I'll be sorted for life.

I am offering you a taste of what the shops try to imitate.

R21 for 500ml of yoghurt
Orders close 10am on the 2nd of May 2013
Delivery to a Southern Suburbs location or pick up point included.

Event #5 FRESH THAI GREEN CURRY PASTE and free recipe!

There's nothing like pounding all the flavor out of some roots, herbs and spices to get a good aroma in your kitchen and your stress levels down.

This delicious paste is naturally free of many allergens: nuts, dairy, wheat, gluten. It is also sugar free. Yay for the diabetics in the house.

Made from about 17 different fresh ingredients (besides the lime leaves, I only have dried lime leaves), this paste
makes any attempt at cooking a thai green curry work. (I've tried, my friends have sampled). If you're still nervous and haven't tried making curry before, then just follow the free recipe to the T(hai) and you will be fine! This is your moment!

Of course you can use this paste for any recipe or dish you know of that calls for curry paste.

It is green, because I use green chillies.
I make two versions: mild and medium.

The recipe included: Chicken Thai Green Curry or Vegan Thai Green Vegan Curry.

R30 for 4 Tablespoons - this will make a curry for about 10 people, 2 tins of coconut milk, give or take 2 depending on the greed levels.
Delivery to Southern Suburbs included.

Orders close on Saturday, 27th April 2012 at 12pm.

Tuesday 23 April 2013

Event #3 KIMCHI

Kimchi for sale!

If you are at all curious about cuisine, you should try this. If you've had this before and want more, you better take advantage because this stuff you cannot get in pick 'n pay!

Bart Simpson likes Kimchi
Bart Simpson digs it. Of course he would. Kimchi is hot, pungent, probiotic rich fermented chinese cabbage with ginger, garlic, spring onion, onion, a dash of honey and chilli.
Sounds like something that filthy yellow rat would like.

Don't leave open Kimchi jar unattended
Fresh Kimchi up close

R25 a cup.
Quirk: The person that orders the most kimchi (DARING!) will receive special mention in a future video once stocks have run out.

Bring own jar to fill up from my Kimchi fridge.
Can deliver on special request.

I started eating Kimchi to aid digestion. So far I've enjoyed my life with Kimchi in it. My family and friends will have
become quite familar with the pungent, sour smell that permeates a room when I open the jar.

This event runs while stocks last. Making Kimchi is quite a process and so I've done all the hard work already. Phew!
Stock in fridge waiting to find a new home

Order at maikgevers at gmail dot com.
Does not spoil quickly.

Event #2 HOT WATER BOTTLE COVER *New invention

I'm not cold. Are you?

Ya, I thought so. You're cold 'coz you don't have one of these.
"What on earth is that?" you say?
Well I'm not surprised you have no idea, because I made it up. Yes. It's my own ingenious invention (which I have already been laughed at about, but that's ok. Walt Disney had the same problem. Awesome.).

It's called the "Hot-Water-Bottle-Holder-Upper", althought you can call it the "Hot-Water-Bottle-Apron" or if you are an accountant I'll settle with "A Hot Water Bottle Cover with Straps".

It's perfect for those people that use their hands when they work (maybe, every body?) and cannot hold a hot water bottle the whole day. It's also great for people that work from home, or are unashamed and don't care what people think (yes, you bold, bold human!)

The straps are adjustable; just tie them to your specific dimensions.

Ag, cute.

To order please email me at maikegevers at gmail dot com.

Price: R50 Cover only, R80 for Cover and Hot Water Bottle
Delivery to Southern Suburbs. Otherwise a drop off point will be organised.
Cash on delivery.
Orders close on Friday, 19 April 2013 at 12pm!

And of course, in the summer you can use the "Hot-Water-Bottle-Holder-Upper" to store your lego in...

*NOTE: Miksy's Playground cannot be help liable for any damages resulting from hot water bottle burns.

Yup. You better believe it.

Anyone know what I am talking about?
